As a parent myself, I understand that kids don’t come with instruction manuals. And the teenager who now lives in your house is probably very different from the sweet little toddler who used to follow you around. Most families with adolescents experience some conflict, but if it feels like all you do is yell at your teenager (or all they do is yell at you!) I’m here to help.
I work individually with the adolescent to address some of the things that are causing them to struggle—identity issues, anxiety, school stress, peer relationships etc. I work with the parents to help them build skills to more effectively communicate with their teen. And finally, I work with the entire family to mediate conflict, practice communication, or set up new rules or systems.
Post Wilderness Therapy
As a former wilderness therapy guide, and past graduate of a wilderness therapy program myself, I understand that reintegrating after an intense therapeutic experience can be a struggle! I work with this unique population to help the client apply the skills they’ve learned in their therapy journey here in the regular world, and to help the parents readjust to having their child back home. This can be a bumpy transition for a lot of families, but having the right therapist certainly makes it smoother!
